Sherlock
11 mins and 40 secs is how far in to the
first episode of the show the name Sherlock Holmes came up. Said by the
protagonist himself, I'm surprised it took that took long. Before I go any
further, I'll let you know that this is kind of a modernized 'Sherlock',
slightly different from the ones you've read in the books. He prefers texting
to calling, knows how to use the internet, has a website and talks in a way
that I'd describe as 'cheesy', for the lack of a better word. Maybe it's the
books that made the old Sherlock look like a serious person cause all you had
your was your imagination but I haven't read more than 50 pages so I can't say.
This modern 'cheesy'(I think I should stop using that word) Sherlock's got the
wit though, it's like he has sensors all over his body and 4 eyes that he is
able to observe so much in a person in one glance.

17 mins in and there have been a couple jokes that are actually funny. The first thought that came to my mind was "Damn this show moves fast". Blink and you'll miss it!And finally! 6 mins later, Sherlock is at the crime scene. Using his robotic sensors..err..I mean his senses i.e. touch, nose, ears, eyes everything. Damn Sherlock is like a robot! This feels so much better than reading the books and imagining what he'd be doing. If you like Detective stuff but don't wanna read a book or whatever, I'd say stop reading this review and go watch the show! But do keep in mind that it's not something you can casually watch and leave in the middle, it's something that'll keep you awake at night, if you're genuinely interested.
I'd
like to give a special mention to how well the show imitates the thoughts of
Sherlock with the visual cues. You'll know what I'm talking about once you see
it.
Coming to how long the show is...The 1hr 30 mins of run-time for each episode actually works out quite well for the show as it doesn't feel like everything's crammed into a short film and neither does it have any boring moments. Each episode feels like a perfect an hour and a half long movie.

So
yeah, love Detective stories? Don't have the time to read them? Want something
to exercise that Detective in you? Grab something to eat and start watching the
show cause you won't be getting off your seat before the episode is over!
Note: This whole thing was just an
overview of how the first episode went but the others follow a similar pattern
so if you like the first one, you'll definitely like the others.
