The Regular Show
Created in 2009 by J.G. Quintel, the animated series The ‘Regular
Show’ has spanned 8 years and 8 seasons with 245 episodes. The story of this
series is based around the lives of two young groundskeepers Mordecai (J.G.
Quintel) and Rigby (William Salyers) who work and live at their local park. This series differs
from many other animated series of the same genre as many of the characters
portrayed are not human, with ‘Mordecai’ being a blue jay and ‘Rigby’ being a
raccoon, as well as many other secondary characters such as ‘Benson’ (Sam Marin)
the gumball machine, ‘CJ’ (Linda Cardellini) a cloud in human form, ‘Pops’(Sam
Marin) a man with a lollipop for a head and ‘Skips’ (Mark Hamill) a yeti that
can only skip to get around. The differences amongst these characters appear to
go entirely unnoticed with the characters interating as though nothing is out of the ordinary. Thus helping to teach young children that everyone is
different but still just as important and equal.
Whilst being created for a younger audience this series can
also be enjoyed by older audiences with many of the shows jokes and themes
aimed at a more mature and educated audience yet it is written in such a way that
younger audiences will still find it funny.
Overall, I enjoyed this series, and would recommend it to
others, especially younger families looking for a show the whole family can
enjoy.
Overall, I give The Regular Show a 6/10.
Warning this show is rated PG so parental guidance is
recommended.
James
